Ras G's "Raw Fruit" series was originally conceived as a four-part cassette beat tape collection, with the first volumes released by Leaving Records beginning in 2013. Volumes 3 & 4 later arrived on vinyl in 2019 through Leaving Records / Stones Throw, followed by Volumes 5 & 6 via Fat Beats in June 2020, continuing the legacy of one of Los Angeles' most visionary beat architects.
The "Raw Fruit" concept reflects G's commitment to wellness, a raw vegetarian lifestyle, and an uncompromising creative process. Recorded at his legendary Spacebase studio from 2013-2017, these are pure stream-of-consciousness productions - raw loops crafted with the SP-303, SP-404, and MPC 2000XL. As G himself described them: "Freestyle beats I make to smoke weed to. I just make 'em, record 'em, and on to the next one. No rules."
Conceptualized, completed, and sequenced before his transition to the astral plane, "Raw Fruit Vol 7 & 8" continue exactly as Ras G envisioned. It is with great excitement that the Shorter Family, Afrikan Space Program, Poobah Records, HIT+RUN Crew, and GHETTO SCI-FI proudly present the next chapter in G's visionary Afrofuturist catalog.
Releasing worldwide on September 9, 2026, "Raw Fruit Vol. 7 & 8" [GSF006] span twenty-nine tracks across more than an hour of unmistakable Ras G cosmic beat futurism, lovingly (re)mastered by Zeroh.
The cover artwork expands on the visual language established on the previous installment, featuring an original illustration by UNI BALANCE (Japan): a bold black profile of G set against a radiant golden yellow field with subtle green glitchy accents. Project coordination and layout were handled by Brandy Flower (HIT+RUN Crew).

In 2019, our beloved Afrikan Space Program elder, Ghetto Sci-Fi pioneer and cosmic traveler transitioned to the astral plane, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy of fearless creativity, spiritual humor, and uncompromising sound. He was one of one - incomparable, unbothered, and forever ahead. His presence is missed every day, but his vision continues to expand.
After years of care, love, and perseverance through unexpected turns, The Estate of RAS_G & The Shorter Family are honored to present "BLUNTS ROLLED" - the first posthumous release of unheard music landing on RAS-G's born day, Thursday, December 11th, 2025.
Eighteen raw transmissions: unreleased beats, remixes, loops & smoky spacecraft meditations arranged in true mixtape spirit exactly as RAS envisioned them. This isn’t a vault dump, it's RAS_G in full form - unfiltered, joyful, psychedelic & rooted in the low end theory.
"BLUNTS ROLLED" [GSF13] continues the ASP mission: connecting hood to heaven, ancient to future, earthly to astral. These sounds crackle with cosmic dust and CALI sunshine - grounded in LA soil, projected into Saturn’s rings. Featuring transmissions from ASP family Kahil Sadiq, The Koreatown Oddity, Zeroh, and even G himself... voices and energies orbiting each other in intimate, galaxy-folding, head-nodding, fronto-scented universes.
This release is a celebration, a homecoming, a new chapter in GHETTO SCI-FI MUSIC. Step inside Spacebase, drop the needle, turn the bass up and feel the smoke curl into the stars.
